ZIP Extractor runs in your browser. There's no EXE or DMG download. Installing simply connects ZIP Extractor to your Google account so you can open and create archives in Google Drive and Gmail.
You can Install ZIP Extractor from the Google Workspace Marketplace - ZIP Extractor listing.
You'll be asked to grant permissions so ZIP Extractor can open archives in Google Drive and Gmail. See our FAQ for details about scopes and data handling.
Once installed, it will appear in Google Drive and Gmail. To use it in Drive, right-click a ZIP, then select Open with | ZIP Extractor. To use it in Gmail, open an attachment then select Open in ZIP Extractor.
For Workspace admins, domain-wide install is supported, so you can install ZIP Extractor for your entire domain from the Google Workspace Marketplace. You will be prompted to conform security scopes (permissions), which are documented in our FAQ page.
Note: If your organization restricts third-party apps, you must first allowlist ZIP Extractor in the Google Admin console.
ZIP Extractor is a web application. All extraction and creation happens in your browser environment. That's why there's no traditional desktop installer, and why the Google Workspace Marketplace "install" is simply a connection to your Google account.
