Yes. Click Create New ZIP on the main page or visit zip.new. Add files and folders from your computer or Google Drive (drag-and-drop works too), then download the ZIP or save it to Google Drive.

Which file types can ZIP Extractor open?

In addition to ZIP (including ZIPX), ZIP Extractor supports RAR, 7-Zip (.7z), TAR, and compressed TARs: GZIP (.gz), BZIP2 (.bz2), LZIP (.lz), and XZ (.xz).

Do I need to download anything?

No. ZIP Extractor runs in your browser at zipextractor.app. There is no special software to download.

Can I preview files without extracting?

Yes. You can preview many formats directly from the ZIP:

• Documents: PDF; text files like TXT, RTF, CSV; code and markup such as HTML, CSS, JS, JSON, XML.
• Images: JPG, PNG, GIF, TIF, WEBP, BMP, SVG, HEIC.
• Video and audio: MP4, WEBM, AVI; MP3, WAV (built-in audio player included).
• Microsoft Office: DOCX, XLSX, PPTX (via "Preview in Drive").

Can ZIP Extractor play audio?

Yes. There is a built-in audio player for MP3, WAV, and other audio files. You will find play/pause, previous/next, shuffle, autoplay, and repeat controls. Click any audio file in the ZIP listing to start playback.

Does ZIP Extractor have a thumbnail grid view?

Yes. Open a ZIP and choose Grid view from the view selector in the upper right to browse image thumbnails.

Can I search inside a ZIP file?

Yes. Press / to open search, then type a filename or extension. Matching files are shown instantly. Tip: you can extract just the filtered results by choosing Extract while search is active.

Can I extract to my computer instead of Google Drive?

Yes. Use the "Extract to Computer" option to download selected files directly. You can also extract to Google Drive - choose whatever works best for you.

Can ZIP Extractor open multi-part archives?

Yes. ZIP Extractor supports multi-part archives such as .z01, .z02 ... for ZIP and similar split formats. Be sure to select or upload all parts.

Can I open a ZIP inside another ZIP?

Yes. If a ZIP contains another archive, use "Open ZIP" in the preview header to open the embedded archive.

Can I create password-protected ZIP files?

Yes. When creating a ZIP you can add a password. For compatible formats, you can also choose strong encryption.

Can I add ZIP Extractor to my Google Account?

Yes. You can "install" ZIP Extractor from the Google Workspace Marketplace so it appears in Google Drive's "Open with" and "New" menus. This is optional - the app also works without installation.

What are the practical file size limits?

Limits depend on your device and browser memory. As a rule of thumb, archives up to about 2 GB open reliably on most computers; newer machines often handle up to about 4 GB. On phones, tablets, and some Chromebooks, smaller archives (about 1 GB or less) are recommended.

How do I uninstall or disconnect ZIP Extractor?

1. Open Google Drive settings: drive.google.com/drive/settings.
2. Select Manage apps in the left panel.
3. Find ZIP Extractor in the list.
4. Open the options menu and choose Disconnect from Drive, then confirm.

Which browsers are supported?

ZIP Extractor works best in current versions of Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox. Safari is supported but may handle very large archives differently. Keep your browser up to date for the smoothest experience.

Troubleshooting

• Reload the page.
• Check your internet connection.
• Try Incognito/Private mode. This disables extensions that may interfere.
• Temporarily disable extensions. Ad blockers, antivirus, or privacy tools are common causes.
• Clear your browser cache and cookies.
• Try a different browser or update yours.

Does ZIP Extractor use cookies?

ZIP Extractor itself does not set its own tracking cookies for file processing.
